Ringo-nominated publisher Lifeline Comics is known for its anthologies Hairology, a celebration of different types of hair, and Transphoria, a trans and non-binary comics collection. Now they’re making in a hat trick with a new Asexual comic book anthology — and you could get paid to have a story in the collection.
The as-yet-untitled anthology comes from Lifeline Comics publishers Kat Calamia and Phil Falco, teaming up with comic book creator Jeremy Whitley (Unstoppable Wasp). And you could join them in the book at any level of experience, with a few caveats. Here are the guidelines, per a press release provided to Comic Book Club:
Writers: your story could be written in any genre. However, (1.) Asexual spectrum identity must be a factor in the plot, and/or (2.) your protagonist should be under the Ace umbrella. Apart from that – have fun, think outside the box, and use your page limit wisely.
Artists should submit their portfolio with sequentials that best represent the type of art they want to contribute to the anthology. Artists and writers can submit as a team, but if you’d rather submit separately, if chosen, you’ll be teamed up by the editors.
If picked for the anthology, writers will get $30/page, artists $80/page, and colorists $40/page. You’ll also receive one comp copy of the book, with an opportunity to buy more at wholesale prices, for the purposes of re-sale.
Sound up your alley? Submissions are open now until November 24, 2024. Those chosen for the anthology will be notified by January 6, 2025, with a deadline of completed comics by May 2025. The Kickstarter for the book will launch in June of 2025.
Good luck to anyone trying out! Hope you… Ace… The submission.
