Agatha All Along is piling on the mysteries faster than the bodies. And in the latest episode, we got some more intriguing teases about what is going on with Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata). Specifically, who stole her magic?
Spoilers for Agatha All Along Episode 3 “Through Many Miles of Tricks and Trials” past this point.
When we first met Kale, she was working at a candle shop after suffering some social media humiliations and lawsuits. But that wasn’t the only reason she was hawking edible candles… Her magic has been blocked for unknown reasons, by an unknown person or being.
Then in this week’s episode, we got a bit more info about what went on in Kale’s past. While in a Real Housewives nightmare house off the Witches’ Road, she explains that she hasn’t just been blocked from using magic… Someone stole it. “He stole my magic,” are the exact words Kale uses when explaining the situation, though she doesn’t know why are how.
And then as the episode progresses, we get to see the man who may have stolen her magic. In the Witches’ Road house, the coven has been cursed to first go through a Botox-style face explosion, and then they start hallucinating. In Kale’s case, that reveals a character simply credited as The Doctor at the end of the episode, played by actor Scott Butler. The Doctor threatens Kale and ultimately tries to drown her in a sink before disappearing. Yes, it’s a hallucination and nightmare; but like the ones the rest of the coven are seeing, there seems to be a basis in fact.
Who Is The Doctor On Agatha All Along? And Who Is Scott Butler?
So who is The Doctor? IS IT DOCTOR DOOM? No, probably not. And in fact, there’s not a lot we can pull from the Marvel Comics source material here. Jennifer Kale in Agatha All Along is an entirely different character with an entirely different powerset than the one in the comics. The only Doctor the comic book version regularly interacts with is Doctor Strange, and Scott Butler (no insult) is not Benedict Cumberbatch.
So for now, it’s a mystery as to who this Doctor is, how he stole Kale’s magic, or what he wanted with it in the first place.
That said, we do know who Scott Butler is! According to his IMDb bio, Butler appeared as Jack the Ripper on Hollywood Hell in 2011, as well as roles in American Horror Story and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (2011). He’s also extremely excited about being in Agatha All Along, as you can see from both his Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
And we’ll also, presumably, see him more as the series progresses! The Doctor, as they say, is in.
