The first Agatha All Along viewership numbers are in, and Disney — and by extension Marvel Studios — seems pleased, as the first two episodes of the series snagged 9.3 million views in the first seven days.

To be clear, this is not 9.3 million viewers. Streamers are generally very cagey about how many viewers a show actually gets, not least of which because you don’t know how many people are watching in the same house. Instead, this number represents the total stream time divided by runtime. The first episode of Agatha ran 42 minutes, the second 44 minutes; though about 10 minutes of each of those episodes is credits. So again, making this a tricky thing to quantify.

Also making things tricky? Disney has been inconsistent with releasing viewership numbers. The Acolyte got 11.1 million views in its first five days, while Ahsoka snagged 14 million views in the same period. For some reason, they released a six-day report for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which got 13.3 million views. Loki Season 2, meanwhile, got 10.9 million views in a mere three days.

Without packing this article full of even more numbers, the main takeaway here is that Disney will release whatever numbers they want to make the show look good. Is it worrisome that Agatha took a full seven days to get fewer views than all of the shows listed above? Honestly? Probably. The show isn’t going to get canceled or anything, but the Agatha All Along viewership numbers are nowhere near as strong as those other series.

That all said, while being first out of the gate with these sorts of numbers is always nice, Nielsen, an independent firm, is far more reliable and will release their numbers in about three weeks. It will be interesting to see whether Agatha All Along managed to cast a spell at that point — or if the audience for Marvel TV series is burning out faster than a witch in Salem.
