‘Agatha All Along’ Kills [SPOILER] In Shocking Twist

That’s a series wrap (maybe) on one major player on Agatha All Along, as of this week’s episode. Spoilers for Episode 3, “Through Many Miles Of Tricks And Trials,” but as of the closing moments, Debra Jo Rupp’s Sharon Davis, aka Mrs. Hart, has gone from Rupp to R.I.P.

To take a step back for some recap here, Sharon was brought along on Agatha Harkness’s (Kathryn Hahn) trip down the Witches’ Road in error, essentially. While it’s clear that Green Witch Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) was supposed to be coming on the trip, due to whatever happened between Agatha and Rio in the past, Agatha deferred and brought Sharon along, instead.

In this week’s episode, the coven entered the first trial on the Witches’ Road, a mildly Real Housewives-inspired nightmare that found them all drinking poisoned wine. First, it gave them the worst Botox of all time. Then it made them relive the dark moments of their past. And finally, it knocked them out entirely. As Sharon had two glasses of the cursed wine, she was prone on a table while the rest of the witches prepared a potion created by Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata) to cure them.

With mere seconds remaining, they gave Sharon the antidote. And as the house flooded, they escaped through the oven (with Patti Lupone’s Lilia Calderu hilariously noting, “I am not climbing in an oven, that happened to a friend of mine once, she had a lovely house too.”) Reentering the Witches’ Road proper via a delightful looking waterslide, the coven discovered that Sharon was dead… After all, she had two glasses of wine, and they only gave her one shot of antidote.

Agatha’s reaction to the news that Sharon is dead? “Who’s Sharon?”

So Is Sharon Davis, AKA Mrs. Hart, Really Dead On Agatha All Along?

The joke there is that Agatha has constantly been calling her Mrs. Hart, per the name Rupp’s character had while trapped in Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) hex in WandaVision. And therein lies the real bummer here… This isn’t just a character casually introduced for Agatha All Along; she was present from the very first episode of WandaVision, three years ago. Seeing her pop up again in Agatha has been a delight, even if they did casually kill her husband off-screen.

Not to mention, Rupp is an iconic comedy actress from her time on That ’70s Show and its various spinoffs. Her off-kilter comedic presence elevates every scene and interaction, so to have her die this quickly in the series is unfortunate. While she clearly wasn’t meant for a dangerous witch’s journey, seeing her in increasingly dire situations would have been a lot of fun.

The question that follows this up, of course, is… Is Sharon Davis really dead? And the answer — without getting into spoilers — at least through the next episode is, yes, she is 100% definitely dead. However! She is also in a magical Witches’ Road with magical witches. And at the end of the Witches’ Road, whoever completes it is going to essentially get a magical wish. While Agatha is jockeying for power, it’s entirely possible she could redeem herself in some fashion by resurrecting Sharon Davis.

It’s also, despite the title of this article not totally shocking given the marketing around the show. There’s a line in the trailer from Rio saying, “The bodies are really piling up.” That certainly implies that Sharon may be the first person to die, but she won’t be the last. Will it, perhaps, just be Agatha and Teen (Joe Locke) entering the final challenge? And if so, maybe Agatha will sacrifice her power to get her whole coven back, not just Sharon Davis.

Or perhaps that’s just wishful thinking. Either way, RIP, Mrs. Hart, Mrs. Davis, or whatever we call you. Sorry this was such a terrible party.
