DC Comics December 2024 Solicit Highlights:

DC continues to be both All In and Absolute in December, as both the mainline and the new universe continue apace. So let’s get into some highlights from their solicits sent to comic book stores and the press.

Let’s talk Absolute Universe, first. In Absolute Batman, Black Mask welcomes some friends to Gotham, and a big secret is revealed to Bruce. In Absolute Wonder Woman, her new enemy is revealed, and we also discover she’s living in Gateway City, so that’s nice. And in Absolute Superman, the new Man of Steel goes up against an army of Peacemakers.

Okay, back to the regular universe. In Superman #21, a super-powered Lois goes on a date with Clark, but he’s got a big secret. Wonder Woman teams up with Detective Chimp in her self-titled series. Batman tangles with the Court of Owls in an over-sized issue drawn by Jorge Jiménez and Tony S. Daniel. And Action Comics goes weekly from Mark Waid and Mariko Tamaki.

Are there other DC Comics characters than Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman? If you can believe it: yes! The New Gods by Ram V and Evan Cagle is a cornerstone book for the overall plot of DC All In, and kicks off in December. Or maybe: no, as there’s a new Challengers of the Unknown series launching in December, but Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are all on the team. And the Superwoman Special focuses in on Lois Lane, the superpowered editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet.

More Batman? Why not! Batman: Dark Patterns is a series of pulp mysteries by Dan Watters and Hayden Sherman. Two-Face comes from writer Christian Ward, and marks the first time the villain is getting his own series. And Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns debuts in November, but continues weekly in December through Christmas.

Other highlights include Metamorpho: The Element Man, which gives the character a new, ongoing series from Al Ewing and Steve Lieber. Green Lantern/Green Arrow: World’s Finest Special teams up the two characters for some hard-travelin’ heroes throwback vibes. And probably the best title of the month, this year’s holiday special from DC is titled DC’s Batman Smells, Robin Laid An Egg.
