Marvel Teases New Young Avengers Style Series Based On Sidekick Variant Covers:
Marvel is teasing a new series teaming up a group of young heroes. But is it Young Avengers, or Champions?
The teaser graphic sent out to the press simply reads “Change the World,” and adds “New Heroes Assemble, January 2025.” While the “assemble” certainly implies an Avengers title, the whole “change the world” tagline perhaps implies something more like the recent run on Champions.
And in fact, you can glimpse a few potential cast members in the graphic, as well, and they’re all directly from last October’s New Champions Variant Covers. So, probably Champions.
One of the characters from those covers, Maystorm, has already been appearing in Peach Momoko’s Ultimate X-Men. In October, Fantasma, Ghost Rider’s sidekick, will appear in the Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special. And Amaranth, the Scarlet Witch’s apprentice, will debut in November’s Scarlet Witch #6.
Other characters seen in the teaser include young characters somehow associated with Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Thor, and Moon Knight. What this all adds up to? We’ll know more soon. Or the latest, January.
Spider-Verse Gets Its Own Original Graphic Novel:
It’s going to be a long wait until Beyond the Spider-Verse hits theaters. So why not kill time by checking out the original graphic novel Around the Spider-Verse, coming to stores next year?
Per Bleeding Cool, the upcoming Scholastic Graphix book will feature three stories, focusing on Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and Araña. Creative teams include Justin A. Reynolds and Pablo Leon, who were behind two previous best-selling Miles Morales graphic novels. Additional creators include Roseanne A. Brown, Penelope R. Gaylord, and Maca Gil.
The book also takes a trip around NYC. Miles runs into some trouble on a school trip to the Museum of Natural History. Gwen fights the Jackal at the Central Park Bandshell. And Araña runs into Kraven the Hunter at the Bronx Zoo.
You can swing Around the Spider-Verse yourself when it hits stores on April 1, 2025.
Mickey And Friends Become The Fantastic Four In New What If…? Special:
Continuing their slate of mash-up comics between Disney characters and Marvel characters, the company and publisher respectively have announced What If…? Mickey And Friends Became The Fantastic Four?, certainly a question we’ve all pondered from time to time.
In the book, Mickey becomes Mr. Fantastic, Minnie is The Invisible Woman, Donald Duck is The Thing, and Goofy is the Human Torch. Said editor Mark Pannicia: “As a huge FF fan myself, I can tell you this issue will tickle your nostalgic funny bone, bringing the spirit of Marvel’s first family to a story I can only describe as Funtastic!”
Previously, Marvel mashed up Donald with Thor, then Wolverine, followed by Minnie as Captain Marvel. And now this! The book hits stores on January 8, 2025.
