Do you love Groot? Of course, you do, everyone loves Groot. But even with your undying love for the mono-phrase-speaking alien tree man, you may have missed the animated series I Am Groot if you don’t have a Disney+ subscription. Good news, if so: Marvel is dropping all five episodes of I Am Groot Season 2 on the Marvel HQ YouTube channel, absolutely free, every day this week.
In the animated shorts, Groot goes on various adventures that weave between the events of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies — and yes, there are cameos from some of the Guardians throughout the episodes. They’re also significantly more kid-friendly than the Guardians movies, though the humor can often get (hilariously) dark.
The first short is already live today, September 9, titled “Are You My Groot?” The other four episodes find Baby Groot, “exploring the universe and beyond aboard the Guardians’ spaceships, coming face-to-face—or nose-to-nose—with new and colorful creatures and environments,” per a press release provided by Marvel.
And that makes sense, as Marvel HQ is the animation-forward, family-friendly YouTube channel for the company. Also teased by Marvel per the release, “more original content featuring Groot, the Avengers, Spidey and His Amazing Friends, and more throughout the year, as well as full length episodes from Marvel’s animation library such as Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom (coming just in time for October’s Halloween season)!”
