Vision showrunner Terry Matalas’s lucky charm is coming on board the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) series: Todd Stashwick has joined as an assassin in pursuit of the android.
The news comes via THR, which is light on details otherwise, though add that Stashwick’s unnamed assassin is looking for the “technology he possesses.” He being Vision, by the way. Thought I should clarify that.
Stashwick has worked with Matalas numerous times before, starting with SYFY’s highly underrated 12 Monkeys series. So when Matalas fully took over Star Trek: Picard for the Paramount+ series’s third and final season (Matalas was previously co-showrunner with Akiva Goldsman), he brought on Stashwick in the immediately fan-favorite role of Captain Liam Shaw. Stashwick has appeared on dozens of other TV shows, and even co-wrote a comic book, Devil Inside, with Dennis Calero.
The upcoming series, which is being called Vision or Vision Quest, but doesn’t officially have a title as of yet, also stars Paul Bettany as Vision, and James Spader as Ultron. It picks up after the end of WandaVision, where a rebooted “White Vision” left in search of his identity. Presumably that brings this new Vision, who is searching for a purpose, back in contact with his creator, Ultron.
How Stashwick’s character plays into this — and what he’s playing — is TBD. The popular online guess is the Grim Reaper, aka Eric Williams. This makes a certain amount of sense since the helmet of the character appeared in the second episode of WandaVision as an Easter egg. However, Eric Williams will appear in the upcoming Wonder Man series, played by Demetrius Grosse. So, probably not!
Vision, or whatever it’s called, is expected to begin filming in 2025.
