The Uncanny Experience, An X-Men Convention, Is Back For Year Two:

Over a year ago, and I’m just realizing I’ve been doing this news podcast for over a year, which is pretty crazy, we reported on the Uncanny Experience — an unauthorized X-Men-specific convention and immersive experience. Well they’re back for year two, running September 28 and 29 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Per AIPT, this year’s experience, if you survive it, includes an immersive lecture by Chris Claremont on the Hellfire Club, a spotlight on Gail Simone, and some of the cast of X-Men ’97 will be stopping by, as well.

Other highlights include a panel on Romani Representation in comics, Phys-Ed with Professor Logan on the front lawn, house pep rallies, debate club, and of course, graduation. It’s all held inside a real mansion made up to look like Xavier’s mansion. And as you’d expect, cosplay is more than welcome.

Tickets are now on sale for the two-day event, and while both the Omega Level and VIP tix are sold out, you can still snag general admission for $70, and kids under 12 can attend free. Presumably, because their mutant gift hasn’t been activated yet.

Paul Chadwick Turns 67 Years Old Today:

Happy birthday, Paul Chadwick! The comic book creator turns 67 today, so here are 67 reasons he’s the best.

Just kidding, that would be too much. Chadwick is best known for his work on Concrete, a story about a man kidnapped by aliens and placed in a stone body. It has the trappings — no pun intended — of a superhero story, but is philosophical, fascinating, and beautifully drawn.

However, Chadwick got his start drawing storyboards for everything from Ewoks: The Battle for Endor to Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Later, he worked on comics like Dazzler and Deadpool for Marvel, several issues of Y The Last Man, and even a few of The Matrix comics — which led to a job working on the story for The Matrix Online with the Wachowskis.

And now he’s 67! Happy birthday, Paul Chadwick. Hooray!

ThunderCats Introduces New Mystery Character, Apex:

Dynamite’s ThunderCats is introducing a new mystery character, Apex!

While the new character is, naturally, unknown, Apex — who will first show up in ThunderCats #8, might be familiar to fans of the franchise. Per writer Declan Shalvey, commenting on the designs by artist Drew Moss: “With much of the new status quo established in the ‘Omens’ arc, we’re now in a place where we’re building our own ThunderCats lore, and with that comes the mysterious Apex. This character is going to introduce a whole new set of issues for the ThunderCats, especially once we learn their true identity. I was really delighted to be able to design this character too, following on from the designs Drew has previously established.”

Dynamite also teases another spinoff series from ThunderCats is coming soon. In the meantime, you can speculate about Apex’s origins on September 25, 2024.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. Maybe Apex is Paul Chadwick? I don’t know.
