‘Skin Police’: Get Your Bloody First Look At The New Oni Press Sci-Fi Series

Skin Police #1 cover crop

You’ve heard of Karma Police and Fish Police. Now, get ready for Skin Police, the latest, wild-looking Oni Press series from writer Jordan Thomas and artist Daniel Gete.

“What if we lived in a society filled with ticking time bombs that could go off without warning at any moment?” asked Thomas via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Now imagine these lurking vessels of death and destruction also had hopes, dreams, feelings, and emotions. That is the setup for Skin Police. A world where illegal clones live amongst us often not knowing what they are or how close they are to ‘popping’ and turning into adrenaline-fueled, hallucinating, violent maniacs.”

In the book, it’s 2142, and fertility levels have plummeted worldwide. The black market for illegal clone babies is booming, and parents are using their own genetic material to create their own kids. Only problem? Three out of four of these children turn into killing machines known as “dupes.” You may be able to see where this is going based on the title, but the United Nations of Europe creates a special task force in response to take them down. That task force? The Skin Police.

“The ethical conundrum around a special government task force given permission to deal with these unfortunate creations by any means necessary, even though for all intents and purposes they are as human as the people sent to end their existence, sits at the root of our new action-packed sci-fi series,” Thomas continued. “The questions superstar agent Brisson Eckis is forced to confront as terrible truths come to light set the fuse for a story packed with constant peril, government conspiracies, and impossible choices all set in a future Europe dictatorship where no one can be trusted and your best friend could turn into your worst enemy in a split second.”

The first issue features covers from Gete, Nick Pitarra, Adam Pollina, and Shaky Kane. Skin Police #1 hits stores everywhere on October 2. Check out several of the covers, and interior pages, below.
