Woo, I think he’s about to make his name in the MCU. A new(ish) scene from Deadpool & Wolverine has dropped online. And it sure looks like Channing Tatum’s Gambit might not be done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe quite yet.
The 20-second-long scene shows Gambit in the aftermath of the battle at Cassandra Nova’s stronghold in the hit movie. Toad and other villains lie dead and/or unconscious on the ground as the Cajun mutant strolls through the wreckage. That’s when a distinctive orange/yellow glow shines behind him. He turns around, smiles, and in a neat shout-out to Gambit’s weird eyes in the comics, we see a circle glowing in his eyeballs.
Yep, that’s a Marvel Sparkle Circle right there, as Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) calls them in the movie. However Gambit survived Alioth after Deadpool and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) jumped through one of their own, it seems like Gambit is about to pop back into Deadpool’s portion of the multiverse and say “What’s up, doc?”
As mentioned earlier, though, this scene is actually in the movie… When we return to the TVA (Time Variance Authority) at the end, you can glimpse it playing on one of the monitors. So yeah, it’s not just a deleted scene… It’s canon.
When or where will Gambit return, though? Or will this be number 24 on the list of MCU Loose Ends? We’ll know soon enough if Tatum’s decades-long push to play the character will pan out into a movie of his own… Or if it’s not in the cards.
