Army of One is coming back for a second volume of multiversal madness, and Comic Book Club has your first, exclusive look inside the book. First debuting earlier this year from Oni Press, Army of One, Volume Two is once again written by #1 New York Times best-selling author Tony Lee, and drawn by acclaimed artist Yishan Li. And if the preview is any indication, things are about to get more shocking, more dangerous, and way more lethal.
“When we wrote the first five issues, which became Book One,” said series writer Tony Lee via a press release exclusively provided to Comic Book Club, “we’d laid the groundwork for the rest of the story, but I didn’t want this to become ‘Sliders’ or some other ‘alternate world of the week’ story – and you have to remember these were written months before Marvel’s ‘Phase Four’ Multiverse Saga began, way back at the start of the COVID pandemic.
“The real world had changed irrevocably and suddenly the story we had planned seemed . . . tame. So, we started discussing how much crazier we could make things. After all, we’d already killed our main character . . . We decided to see how far we could turn that dial, in the next five issues. Turns out, you can twist that damned thing around a hell of a lot before things break . . .”
If you’re not familiar with Army of One, the first volume introduced a world of broken “shards,” the remains of a powerful being known as Sister Fortune. Defeated by her rival Brother Havoc, a girl named Carrie discovered she was a shard — and needed to unite with all of the other shards from across the multiverse. Only, Carrie died in Volume 1… So what’s next as Brother Havoc grows even stronger?

The Shards are scattered and reeling in the wake of Carrie’s sudden death. Without her—without the prophecy—they surely stand no chance against Brother Havoc and his rising scourge of alternate-reality fascists. When gravely injured knight TR-8 makes a sudden recovery, the savior, Sister Fortune, and the trained warrior are united as a powerful new trinity, but can they put the other pieces of their rebellion back together in time?
