The world of Minor Threats is expanding once again with a miniseries Dark Horse Comics is teasing as “Succession with supervillains.” Titled From the World of Minor Threats: The Brood, the new series is written by Heath Corson, with art by I.N.J Culbard.
“The two major influences were Succession and then Wes Anderson’s Royal Tenenbaums, which you can very much see in Ian’s art and color palette,” said Corson via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “The idea came when I was watching the film and thinking: What if this was the continuing story of Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor? What if he married Ms. Teschmacher, had three children, and tried to raise them in the family business? So, Napleon’s brood was always his big idea: Have a dynasty. Eventually, you’ll outlive the heroes… AND WIN.”
Spinning out of Minor Threats, created by Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum, this will be the first in the series set outside Twilight City. Instead, it will focus on the “futuristic metropolis” of Meteor Falls, and Napoleon Archimedes, the archenemy of The Searcher. As the villain is dying, though, he needs to decide which of his three kids — Athea, Benjamin, or Sppokshow — will succeed him as the world’s greatest supervillain.
The “unlikely coming-of-age story” will feature letters by Nate Piekos. From the World of Minor Threats: The Brood #1 will spot covers by Scott Hepburn, I.N.J. Culbard, John K. Snyder lll, Christian Ward, and more. It will hit stores on December 11, 2024.
