All-New Venom From Marvel Puts A Mystery Hero In The Symbiote Suit:
Spinning out of the end of Venom War, Marvel is putting a mystery hero — or villain — in the symbiote suit. And not only that, we’re getting a new title: All-New Venom, debuting in December.
The news was revealed via Polygon, where writer Al Ewing teases four suspects for the new Venom: Robbie Robertson, Madame Masque, Rick Jones, and Luke Cage.
How one of the four ends up in the suit is TBD, but Ewing will be working with artist Carlos Gómez on the series, which will also find Dylan Brock trying to figure out who has taken over the Venom suit. Will this be a Death and Return of Superman situation where there are four suspects — but it turns out to be Eddie Brock at the end of the day? That’s also TBD, as Ewing doesn’t refer to Dylan’s dad’s status quo post-Venom War anywhere in the interview.
However, Ewing also reveals that this will be a more down-to-earth version of the character, set in New York City, with a little more heroic bent and a little less goop than we’ve seen in his run on Venom so far. So get your gumshoe hats on, folks, we’ve got a symbiote mystery to solve.
Comic Superstars Form New Company:
A bevy of comic book superstars are forming a new comic book company. Sound vague? Well, it is. Other than who is involved on the business side, we don’t know anything about a lineup of titles, creatives behind those titles, or even a name for the company.
However, the business side is stacked. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the venture is backed by Eric Gitter, a producer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. So far, he’s recruited former BOOM! Studios President Filip Sablik as Publisher, former IDW editor-in-chief Jamie Rich as Editor-in-Chief, and artist and writer Jeremy Haun as Creative Director.
Not much else is known, though the company will skip superheroes to concentrate on horror, science fiction, crime, and fantasy. And per Gitter’s area of expertise, they will have one eye toward media adaptations. The company expects to begin releasing comics in 2025.
Wynd Is Ending At BOOM! Studios:
Wynd, the Eisner and GLAAD award nominated series by James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas, is ending at BOOM! Studios. The final series will be titled The Power of Blood.
Here’s the synopsis for the hit series, per BOOM!: “War is brewing between humans, Faeriekind, and the dastardly Vampyres.
Wynd, the boy hero, has been captured; Zedra and her Vampyre forces have discovered that Wynd’s magical blood allows them to regrow their wings, giving them an upperhand in the coming war. Meanwhile, Wynd’s young friends in Newport hatch a plan to rescue Wynd before it’s too late…”
Though the exact number of issues for the finale of the series is TBA, the first issue will hit on November 13, 2024.
