Marvel Comics for Dummies And Captain America for Dummies To Hit Bookstores In 2025:

Hey, dummy! Wondering about how to understand Marvel Comics simply and easily? Well, great news, because Dummies is releasing a six-part series all about that, kicking off with Marvel Comics For Dummies and Captain America for Dummies hitting next year.

Timed not-so-coincidentally for February 2025, the same month Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters, the two manuals will introduce readers to key storylines, and lay out the history of Marvel Comics in the case of the former, and Captain America all the way from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson in the latter.

Jennifer Yee, Senior Editor at Dummies said via press release, “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Marvel to bring the Marvel Universe to fans through Dummies’ signature style of accessible, friendly storytelling. For new fans looking for a primer to the Marvel Comic Universe, to superfans alike, this series of books will serve as approachable reference guides to some of Marvel’s most popular and enduring super heroes.”

Expert Troy Brownfield will write the Marvel Comics guide, with veteran Stuart Moore taking on the Captain America guide. The next four guides, also to be released in 2025, will cover the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, Spider-Man, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Mad Cave Expands Into Manga:

Mad Cave Studios is expanding into manga, with a new imprint called Nakama Press.

Said Mad Cave Studios president Mark Irwin via press release: “Our mission with Nakama Press is to connect readers with stories that resonate universally, transcending cultural boundaries. We believe in the power of storytelling to bring people together, and Nakama Press is our way of celebrating that through the incredible world of manga and graphic novels.”

The label will include both original manga and licensed titles. And while the release was short on details about actual titles, other than providing “a cultural bridge between East and West,” you’ll be able to find out more at the Anime NYC convention this weekend in New York, when Nakama Press senior editor Kristen Simon takes the stage, Saturday, August 24 in Room 5 from 6pm to 7pm.

James Tynion IV And Elsa Charretier Team Up For New DSTLRY Book:

James Tynion IV and Elsa Charretier are teaming up for a new book from DSTLRY titled The City Beneath Her Feet.

As revealed over at the AV Club, the new book follows a writer who is listed as her ex’s emergency contact. Only thing, her ex was the world’s deadliest assassin — and now the whole underworld is trying to kill her.

Said Tynion, “This is a story about the people you fall in love with who change your life forever, and realizing all the things you thought you knew about them were wrong. It’s also one of the most viscerally fun, violent, and sexy comics I’ve ever had the opportunity to write. More than that, it’s also my chance to write a real love letter to New York City, where I was born and where I’ve spent the majority of my adult life, and tell that story in the language I learned watching Tarantino movies and romantic comedies on loop as a young man.”

The City Beneath Her Feet #1 hits stores this November.
