DSTLRY Reveals Red Label Cover For The Missionary:
Red Label is all the rage right now. Marvel is rapidly expanding their line of adults-only books. Image Comics recently made fun of them in an ad for Killadelphia. And now DSTLRY is launching a Red Label of their own.
Like Marvel’s Red Label books, DSTLRY’s Red Label edition of The Missionary by Ryan Stegman and Jason Howard will be an expanded version of the book with more extreme material.
Per DSTLRY’s press release: “The polybagged DSTLRY RED LABEL edition elevates The Missionary #1 to new depraved heights, containing NSFW content and added ultraviolence. Notably, this edition includes more depravity and gore, ending on a shocking double-page spread that expands on the regular edition’s last single splash page, revealing the ‘off camera’ carnage previously left to the imagination.”
As for the book itself, it’s about a religious man who becomes possessed by a demon after discovering his wife is having an affair with a man from his church.
Both versions of The Missionary #1 will be available in stores on September 25, 2024.
Transformers Middle-Grade OGN Coming From Skybound:
Are you ready to meet the worst Decepticon ever? Well, get ready, because Transformers: Worst Bot Ever is coming from Skybound.
The new middle-grade graphic novel series stars a Decepticon named Ballpoint, who can transform into a ballpoint pen. He gets kicked out of the Decepticon and decides to try and beat the Autobots, all by himself.
Written by Brian “Smitty” Smith, with art by Marz Jr., Worst Bot Ever: Meet Ballpoint will be launched as part of Skybound’s young readers line, Skybound Comet. Per what you might be able to intuit from the title, it’s the first of a planned series of OGNS. However, it is separate from the ongoing Energon Universe titles, and will hit stores on July 22, 2025.
Storm Solo Book Issue Titles Revealed:
In an intriguing marketing move, Marvel has released the titles of the first five issues of its upcoming Storm solo series.
Written by Murewa Ayodele with art by Lucas Werneck, the new series will debut in October with an issue titled “Grand Opening.” Then in November is “Death by Voodoo,” followed by “Impending Doom” in December. January 2025 brings on the fourth issue, “A Flame in the Wind.” And in February, issue #5 is titled “Oblivion Waits… No Longer.”
Some of the titles are obvious… “Death by Voodoo” teases the already revealed guest star for issue #2, Doctor Voodoo. Issue #3’s “Impending Doom” almost certainly ties into the upcoming “One World Under Doom” storyline Marvel teased out of the end of Blood Hunt. As for the others? We’ll just have to wait and see. The first issue hits stores on October 2.
