‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Breaks $1 Billion Box Office Barrier

Deadpool and Wolverine

Deadpool is officially a billionaire. Or at least, Deadpool & Wolverine has officially surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, making it one of the most successful movies of all time.

In fact, as of this writing, the MCU flick has made $1.0295 billion globally — $494.3 million in North America, and $535.2 million internationally. It’s only the second R-rated movie in history to pass the $1 billion mark, after Joker, which made $1.07 billion in 2019. Chances are that Deadpool and Wolverine will finally beat their arch-enemy, The Joker, in the next few weeks to be crowned the biggest R-rated movie of all time.

Speaking of 2019, only one other MCU movie has passed the $1 billion threshold since Avengers: Endgame was released that year: Spider-Man: No Way Home, which grossed $1.9 billion in 2021. Previously, Marvel Studios released nine $1 billion movies. So while this is not a guarantee that it’s all uphill from here, it’s certainly a return to form for the studio.

To answer your follow-up question: how many chimichangas can that buy? Though prices vary, according to Uber Eats, “Menu options for Chimichanga delivery or that come with it are priced around $11.00 on average. This number does not include any additional fees for a delivery order.” That means Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and friends could enjoy approximately 90,909,091 with this money. As long as nobody wants to get paid or anything.

Deadpool & Wolverine is also easily the most successful X-Men movie, dwarfing both previous Deadpool movies, as well as the non-Deadpool top earner, X-Men: Days of Future Past. That movie topped out at $747,862,775 at the worldwide box office.
