It’s yet another big week for comics in America, and that’s great. We love ’em here, don’t we folks? And you’re probably wondering what the new comics this week are for August 14, 2024.
Marvel, as usual, is putting out a slew of new product. X-Factor #1 from Mark Russell and Bob Quinn spins the “From The Ashes” era into corporate parody territory. The Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special tells tales from all the eras of the character. But the biggest — and saddest — issue of the week is Sensational She-Hulk #10, which finishes up Rainbow Rowell’s run on the character. This book was and is great, so check it out.
The big one from DC Comics is DC vs. Vampires: World War V, which kicks off the return of the vampire bestseller just as Marvel wraps up their own vampire epic. Absolute Power: Task Force VII #4 pits the Batfamily against Failsafe and the Court of Owls. And if you’re missing Rainbow Rowell on She-Hulk… Great news! She’s writing a Lois Lane backup in Action Comics.
AHOY has a big release this week with Babs #1, a fantasy parody from Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows. Kardak the Mystic #1 from Archie brings the classic character back for a new generation. Dark Horse has Gilt Frame #1, a new mystery from Matt Kindt and his mom. IDW launches a new TMNT spinoff from Juni Ba in Nightwatcher #1. And Image Comics releases a brand new Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips book, Houses Of The Unholy.
