Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s more interesting animated projects. Initially thought to be taking place in the MCU, it’s now a sort of multiverse show, like What If…? And we just found out a lot more about it at D23.
The show is created by Jeff Trammell and takes Spider-Man back to high school — per the title of the series. Unlike in the MCU, it explores what it would be like if Norman Osborn was Peter Parker’s mentor, instead of Iron Man. And the series surprised the panel at D23 by announcing that the voice of Osborn will be none other than Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead, Euphoria). Is it bad that I’m now rooting for Green Goblin? Maybe. Maybe.
Other characters teased at the panel include Doctor Strange, a symbiote, and a lot of different suits for Spidey. Is one of them a symbiote suit? Probably. Also, Doctor Strange will fight a symbiote. Symbiote. Just wanted to say that one more time.
Hudson Thames stars as the voice of Peter Parker, Eugene Byrd is Lonnie Lincoln, Grace Song is Nico Minoru, Hugh Dancy is Otto Octavius, Kari Wahlgreen is May Parker, Zeno Robinson is Harry Osborn, Charlie Cox is Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, and Paul F. Tompkins is Bentley Whittman.
The first season is expected to debut soon on Disney+, with a second season already in development. No premiere date for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has been announced yet, but it was previously teased for 2024.
