Taylor Swift Was Never Going To Be In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Director Reveals

Is Taylor Swift In Deadpool And Wolverine?

Despite feverish internet speculation to the contrary, Taylor Swift was never going to be in Deadpool & Wolverine. Rumors had the singer playing everything from mutant Dazzler to Lady Deadpool. But according to director and co-writer Shawn Levy, that was never going to happen.

“It was never a conversation,” Levy told EW in a recent interview. “It was never even a seed of a discussion. Obviously, Ryan [Reynolds] and Blake [Lively], and myself, to a far lesser extent, have our own relationships in real life with Taylor. But, yeah, those rumors were loud and slightly baffling, but nothing I said or did was going to make them quiet down until this movie came out.”

The rumors certainly weren’t helped by Swift herself being a professed fan of the Deadpool movies, as well as frequently being spotted out with Reynolds, Lively, and co-star Hugh Jackman… Particularly during the Super Bowl, which launched the first trailer for the movie. And Reynolds amped up speculation by attaching Swift’s songs to some of his Instagram posts.

But her participation was debunked early on… And then debunked again on the red carpet for the movie. Which of course only fueled speculation further.

“It was so very loud,” Levy continued on the conversation. “I definitely had moments where I was worried I would disappoint people when they realized Taylor as Dazzler was not in the movie, but there’s no controlling the internet and rumors spread like wildfire.”

Spoiler: Taylor Swift is not in Deadpool & Wolverine. Sorry, Swifties. We’ll just have to hold out hope she’ll pop up in Avengers: Secret Wars.
