Yesterday (August 2), we told you that Marvel Studios via Disney has tweaked its upcoming release calendar. Gone is “Untitled Marvel” on July 24, 2026. Meanwhile, they’ve added two more “Untitled Marvel” movies to the calendar. So what are these untitled movies? We can definitively tell you what they’re not: Spider-Man 4.
Don’t panic, Spider-Fans, this doesn’t mean that plans have been nixed for a fourth outing for Tom Holland’s web-slinger. This is good news if you’re eagerly awaiting what’s next after that memory wipe in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That’s because the Spider-Man films are placed on the release calendar through Sony — not Disney.
You probably see where we’re going with this, but if not… There’s a good chance Disney pulled their “Untitled Marvel” movie off of July 24, 2026, because that’s where Sony plans to schedule Spider-Man 4.
Granted, Spider-Man 4 hasn’t officially been announced yet. We know there’s a script in the works, via Marvel chief Kevin Feige. There have also been rumors, but no confirmation of a director or directors. And we’re pretty sure that Tom Holland and Zendaya will be back for the fourth movie, but even that hasn’t been confirmed. That all said? There’s no way Sony and Marvel won’t do a new Spider-Man movie… They make too much money, not to mention Sony would like to hold on to the rights to the property. It will happen, it’s just a question of when. And that when is almost definitely July 24, 2026.
So, what about the rest of those open release dates, if none of them are Spider-Man 4?
Which Marvel Movies Will Release In Those “Untitled Marvel” Dates?
Trying to figure out which Marvel movies will release as “Untitled Marvel” is a little bit of 4-D chess, but I’ll throw out one thing I’m pretty bullish about here: Blade is not coming out on November 7, 2025, no matter how much they’re pretending it will. There’s no finished script, no director, and other than Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth, no cast. I’d venture it’s clear Disney is parking Blade there so as not to lose a prime November date.
In addition, Disney CEO Bob Iger has given Marvel a directive of limiting the number of movies released in a year to three, to keep things manageable and quality (hopefully) high. Pure speculation (as is all of this), but I think Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* will keep their release dates. The Fantastic Four: First Steps, meanwhile, just went into production. There’s every chance that will shift to the November date, and Blade will either move into the February 13, 2026 date or shift off the schedule entirely.
Let’s say that’s all accurate, and they do keep Blade. If so, we’ve got three Marvel movies untitled. There are multiple projects in various stages of development, and surely many that haven’t been announced. The ones we know for sure about are Shang-Chi 2, Armor Wars, and X-Men. I would bet good money that X-Men is one of the movies in 2027, spinning off of the game-changing ending of Secret Wars.
Shang-Chi 2, since it’s been in development for a long time, seems perhaps the most likely for the date between Doomsday and Secret Wars. I’d bet if Marvel does go that route, it will be similar to how Ant-Man and the Wasp treated the end of Infinity War — not dealing with the events of Doomsday, until the post-credits sequence.
Armor Wars… TBD? That’s a project that was a TV show, then became a movie, was supposed to spin off the end of Secret Invasion, and now… Well, I’d be surprised if it ever happens. It could fill one of those 2027 dates, but far more likely that we get a sequel like Thor 5 or Black Panther 3.
Again, this is all speculation. We may know more when Kevin Feige takes the stage at Disney’s D23 Expo in a week, so stay tuned.
