That’s a wrap on Superman! The James Gunn-directed and written feature has a ways to go until it hits theaters, but filming is done for now, as Gunn announced in an emotional and heartfelt post on Tuesday (July 30).

“And that’s a wrap,” Gunn posted on X (formerly Twitter). “God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful.”

Along with the post, he included a shot from the first week of the shoot, taken in Svalbard, Norway.

The upcoming movie stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicolas Hoult as the movie’s main villain, Lex Luthor. Also in the flick are Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.

Filming began in February 2024 in Norway, with additional filming taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, and Cleveland Ohio… The latter the birthplace of Superman. Superman is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025.
