We’ve already discovered that Giancarlo Esposito isn’t playing who we thought he was in Captain America: Brave New World. And we’ve also gotten teased that Lewis Pullman is playing “Bob” in Thunderbolts* (but really The Sentry). And as news trickles out about character names, one movie title is getting a change, via Marvel Studios’s San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel: Fantastic Four is now titled The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Oh, and they’re not just going to appear in that movie; the cast of Fantastic Four will also appear in Avengers 5 and Avengers 6.
The title calls to mind the classic “one small step” quote from Neil Armstrong, and ties into the 1960s setting for the MCU flick, as well as its rumored focus on space exploration. And in fact, the villain of the movie will be Galactus (Ralph Ineson) — though perhaps the team will face him in space, not on Earth as in the comics.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will star Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the titular team. Production begins this Monday, with director Matt Shakman. The movie will hit theaters on July 25, 2025, but you can check out the title treatment, below.
