‘I Hate Fairyland’ Reaches Its “Happy Endgame”

If you’ve never checked out Skottie Young’s hilarious I Hate Fairyland from Image Comics… Well, rectify that immediately. Because the raunchy, bloody comedy book is about to kick off an all-new arc in issue #16, titled “Happy Endgame.” And if the covers provided by Image are any indication, it’s going to be a laugh-out-loud funny good time.

I Hate Fairyland is my favorite thing to work on, month in month out,” said Young via press release provided to Comic Book Club. “We’re getting close to the 10 year anniversary of Gert being in our lives and I thought it would be a great time to make her come face to face with all the poor souls she’s sent to the afterlife over the last decade.”

In the new arc, Gert’s biggest enemy returns to Fairyland, with a legion of other enemies in tow. While Gert usually has no problem slicing and dicing, this particular onslaught might be too much for even her to handle. So she heads to Kansas to find “someone that’s quite familiar with fighting against evil in far away fantasy lands. And she’s not the only one!”

In the covers below, not only are you getting two killer smiley-face covers, but there are two variants by Skottie Young riffing on his classic “baby” variant covers for Marvel. I Hate Fairyland #16 hits stores on October 2, with art by Brett Bean.
