What’s So Secret About Marvel’s ‘Spider-Boy’ #12?

Spider-Boy #11

Marvel Comics has released the solicits for their October releasing comics, aka synopses and covers meant to tease fans and get orders going at comic book shops. But one blurb is surprisingly bereft of all of that: Spider-Boy #12.

Written by San Dlott, with art by Paco Medina, the issue’s synopses simply reads: “Classified.” Not only that, the covers listed include a Stormbreakers variant by Federico Vicentini and a Doom variant by Edwin Galmon. However, the two non-themed variant covers, which are by Michael Cho and Mark Bagley, are both listed as “spoiler variants.” And unlike every other title Marvel is releasing in October, none of the covers for Spider-Boy #12 were included in the listings sent to press.

Here’s some info we do know: the book is 32 pages long, and it costs $4.99. But that’s it.

What does it mean????

To try and suss out what’s going on here, let’s take a look at the two previous blurbs. Here’s the synopses for Spider-Boy #10:

SPIDER-BOY meets the SPIDER-WARRIORS! Be careful, because each and every one of them is powered by spider-blood. Spider-blood? Yes, radioactive spider-blood! Guest-starring the SPIDER-SOCIETY. And featuring an event that will forever change how Spider-Man and Spider-Boy relate to each other – a major status quo change that will have massive repercussions for the two of them.

…and here’s the synopses for Spider-Boy #11:

Since the events of last issue, when (REDACTED) happened, SPIDER-BOY’S life has been forever changed! And if that wasn’t weird enough… it’s time to go BACK TO SCHOOL?! NOOOOO! The next chapter of Bailey Briggs’ life STARTS HERE – with new cast members and an all-new super villain!

So clearly something happens between Spider-Boy and Spider-Man, Bailey gets a new status quo, and then… Something else happens in issue #12 so big and wild, Marvel won’t even tease what it is.

Given Dan Slott is the guy who killed Spider-Man and put Doctor Octopus’s brain in Peter Parker’s body, this could mean… Literally anything. Does Bailey die? Does someone else die? Does he cross over into the real world and become my friend? Literally anything!

We’ll know more — maybe — when Spider-Boy #12 hits stores this October.
