Marvel‘s Trick-Or-Read titles for 2024 are getting a bonus treat: a new backup story titled Fantastic Four: Yesterday written by Ryan North, with art by Alan Davis.
Running in three of the publisher’s free titles being distributed this October — Fantastic Four: The Dinosaur Fantastic Four #1, Spider-Boy: The Web-Less Wonder #1, and Venom: Bedlam #1 — the new short will retell the FF’s origin. Per the publisher’s press release, it will present the classic story “in a way that invites new readers and astounds longtime fans! ”
Continuing, Marvel notes that, “The story will detail the team’s origin, making it a perfect entry point for readers who want to get acquainted with the characters and the FF mythos. This is also the perfect time to jump into this incredible FF story ahead of Marvel Studio’s highly anticipated Fantastic Four film, arriving in theaters next summer!”
Trick-Or-Read is a program that lets fans grab reprints of comics throughout the Halloween season at comic book stores — sort of like Free Comic Book Day, but all month long. The new story will run in all three issues, so pick up any one you want and find out just why nobody was annoyed when Reed chose “Mr. Fantastic” as his code name.
