It’s the perennial question one asks when the credits start rolling in the theater: is there an end credits scene? And while traditionally Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies have more than one, things have varied greatly in recent years. So if you are sitting in the theater right now, you might be wondering: does Deadpool & Wolverine have an end credits scene? And as a follow-up, how many end credits scenes does Deadpool & Wolverine have?
Obviously we’re talking spoilers past this point but the short answer is yes, there’s something mid-credits — and there’s a classic end-credits scene, as well. While you could just sit down and watch them, in case you walked out of the theater and are now kicking yourself let’s break down everything to know about the Deadpool & Wolverine credits scenes.
How Many End Credits Scenes Are In Deadpool & Wolverine?
So as mentioned, there are two things in the credits. “Things” sounds nice and vague, right? That’s because the first, uh, thing that’s in the credits for the movie is a behind-the-scenes montage. The second thing is an actual end-credits scene. So technically there are two, but I would be hard-pressed to call what happens mid-credits a scene.
Is There A Deadpool & Wolverine Mid-Credits Scene?

A slight point of clarification here: I saw this at a critics screening earlier this week, and the movie abruptly and bizarrely cut from the closing shot of Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine’s (Hugh Jackman) masks to the white text on black credits. Maybe that’s how the movie actually goes but it seemed like they hadn’t finished the usual animated credits yet; or held them back for the advance screenings.
Regardless, once those credits start rolling, almost immediately we get to see a reel of behind-the-scenes footage from Fox movies ranging back to the original 2000 X-Men. This is set to “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” by Green Day, and we flash through pretty much every X-Men movie, as well as several Fantastic Four movies. There’s other Fox-era footage in there too, including scenes from the movies themselves cut together. It all ends with the 20th Century Fox logo and classic fanfare.
It’s sweet and sad because that’s essentially what this movie is all about… Saying goodbye to an era of Marvel movies that lasted for almost 20 years. More, if you count Deadpool & Wolverine. And in case you aren’t plugged into the business, the quick explanation is Disney bought Fox, halted any movement on the Marvel properties until the rights got sorted out so the MCU could use them, and in 2020, changed the name of the company to take the “Fox” out. So one last time, we got to see not just the actors in the X-Men movies (and others) goofing around. We also got to see an iconic logo from Hollywood history.
Is There A Deadpool & Wolverine Post Credits Scene?
Enough nostalgia! Let’s get to the good stuff! Once the credits finish, there is indeed a classic MCU end-credits scene. Does it tee up Captain America: Brave New World? Oh, maybe it sets up Avengers 6: Secret Wars? Wait, don’t tell me, it’s just like the end credits to Deadpool, where the character teases Cable will be in the sequel in cheeky fashion, right?
Uh, none of those. Instead, we cut back to Deadpool in the TVA (Time Variance Authority). He brings up a TemPad, the little doohickeys they use to travel the multiverse, and calls up footage from when he, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) were captured by Pyro (Aaron Stanford). If you’ll recall in the movie we cut from their transport to them arriving at Cassandra Nova‘s (Emma Corrin) stronghold. Once there, Deadpool made up a bunch of outrageous, insanely raunchy things he said Johnny Storm said he was going to do once he saw Cassandra Nova again. Johnny protested, and then Cassandra stripped off his skin, turning him into a pile of blood and bones.
In the end credits scene, we find out there was a camera in the transport. And while Deadpool and Wolverine are tied up, Johnny proceeds to say all the things Deadpool said he said! So in fact, despite spending the whole movie getting blamed for Johnny’s death, he wasn’t lying: Johnny actually said those horrible things, in Chris Evans’s heavy Boston accent.
Deadpool still probably shouldn’t have repeated them, though, that wasn’t nice.
So there you go! End credits explained. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, it’s in theaters now. But you already knew that.
