Welcome to the Joker and Harley Show. Or, as it will be called in theaters, Joker: Folie À Deux, the sequel to the blockbuster 2019 movie Joker. And with a brand-new trailer, we’ve now got a better look at the deadly shenanigans in store.
In the movie, Joaquin Phoenix returns as Arthur Fleck, aka The Joker. At the end of the previous film, either Gotham City was left burning after he murdered a talk show host named Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro) live on air; or he imagined all of it. Either way, Arthur finds himself in none other than Arkham State Hospital. There he meets Harleen Quinzel (Lady Gaga), a music therapist who forms a twisted relationship with him.
Oh, also it’s a musical.
Zazie Beetz returns as Sophie Dumond, Arthur’s neighbor, while actors Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Steve Coogan, and Ken Leung join the cast in new roles. The movie is once again directed by Todd Phillips, and written by Phillips and Scott Silver.
Joker: Folie À Deux hits theaters on October 4, 2024, and the world will never be the same again.
