Are you ready for sugar and PUMPKIN spice and everything nice? Well, get ready, as Dynamite has announced they’ll be releasing The Powerpuff Girls Halloween Special, just in time for the spooky holiday itself.
The 40-page special is written by Amanda Deibert with art by Cat Staggs, and finds Buttercup aiming to win a contest in the Townsville Gazette to create the best Halloween horror comic.
“I am so excited about this Powerpuff Girls story jam packed with pop-culture Halloween-eggs (is that a thing?) for horror-lovers and a multitude of mayhem and mix-ups with so many of our favorite villains,” said Deibert via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Nothing could be better than the Powerpuff Girls saving Halloween! This is a TREAT for us (and our Powerpuff-loving daughter!)”
Added Staggs, “As an OG fan of the The Powerpuff Girls, getting to draw them is a dream come true. Getting to work with my incredible wife, Amanda Deibert, and mix it with my favorite holiday, perfection!”
Looking for inspo, Buttercup heads to a “possibly haunted hotel.” Unfortunately, there’s no trick or treating at the lodging, so it’s up to Bubbles and Blossom to convince Buttercup to ditch her plans so they can show off their costumes.
The Powerpuff Girls Halloween Special hits stores on October 23, with covers by Staggs, Trish Forstner, and Silvia De Ventura. You can check them out below, and click for larger versions.
