‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Reviews: Early Reactions Say The MCU Flick Is What “You’ve Been Waiting For”

Deadpool and Wolverine

Let’s f**king go: the first reviews are here for Deadpool & Wolverine, and no big surprise, the reactions from critics and fans are overwhelmingly positive for the MCU flick.

While the third Deadpool movie has screened the first 35 minutes of the film all over the world for the past few weeks, tonight was the first time the movie was screened in full. And as a note of clarification, these are the early social reactions, as that embargo broke earlier tonight. The full reviews for the movie from critics won’t post until Tuesday, July 23 at 3pm PT / 6pm ET, when the review embargo breaks.

Starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, the R-rated movie — the first of its kind for Marvel Studios — brings together the Fox X-Men universe and the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) in a big way. No spoilers here, but based on promos it’s clear that the movie doesn’t just bring Jackman’s Logan out of retirement, it also includes characters like Pyro (Aaron Stanford), Sabretooth (Tyler Mane), and many more.

Deadpool & Wolverine also stars Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Paradox. The film is directed by Shawn Levy, who co-wrote with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. It officially premieres in theaters on July 26, 2024. Check out some of the early reactions, below.
