The biggest mystery of our time? The identity of Lady Deadpool in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. Rumors and speculation have flown fast and furious about who is playing the mysterious character in the Marvel movie. And while it won’t be confirmed until the movie hits later this week, there is one person who is definitely not playing Lady Deadpool: Ryan Reynolds.
“I love listening to the conspiracy theories,” Reynolds told Access Hollywood during the recent junket for the film. “Who is it? My favorite one that traveled quite a bit I saw, was me.”
Perhaps of note here, the interviewer did not actually ask him this question. What she asked was why it was the right to reveal Ladypool [sic]. But Reynolds instead launched into this soundbite, which sounds like a well-rehearsed answer to a question the actor knew would crop up multiple times during the junket.
Continued Reynolds while co-star Hugh Jackman giggled next to him, “I don’t know how I could do that with my hips. I cannot walk like that to save my life. My shoulders? They’re absurdly broad for a suit like that. So no, it is not me.”
So if it isn’t Reynolds in the Lady Deadpool costume, then who is it? Popular guesses have included Reynolds’s real-life wife Blake Lively, superstar Taylor Swift, who is friends with the couple, and Morena Baccarin, who has played Deadpool’s girlfriend Vanessa in the previous two films and appears in Deadpool & Wolverine, as well. But according to Reynolds, he actually has no idea who is in the suit.

When asked if Wanda Wilson is someone we know, Reynolds said, “I hope so, god, I don’t know. I’m going to find out myself. I specifically said ‘don’t tell me’ when we were shooting. I said ‘pick anyone you want’ and don’t tell me.”
As for Jackman, he added, “I’m just shutting up. I’m shutting up.”
It’s hard to believe that Reynolds doesn’t know who is playing Lady Deadpool, given he’s a co-writer of the movie, a producer on the film, and, you know, the star. Add in that Marvel actors have a habit of lying — look no further than actress Dafne Keen saying she’s not in the movie while promoting The Acolyte, only for Marvel to reveal her character X-23 in the final trailer… And yeah, he knows who is in the suit. He’s likely just riffing.
And on that note, hey, maybe it is Reynolds after all (it’s definitely not). You can watch the full interview, below.
