We’re one week away from the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, and the reveals are coming fast and furious. Thanks to the final trailer for the flick, we now know — despite news to the contrary — Dafne Keen is back as X-23. But beyond that emotional return, the internet’s many body detectives must be thrilled we finally got a full look at Lady Deadpool, with the Deadpool Corps behind her… Though thanks to a mask, the identity of the actress playing her is unknown.
Glimpsed briefly in the trailer, it’s pretty much the same shot we’ve seen before… First her legs. Then from the shoulders down. Now, we’ve got a full view of Wanda Wilson in all her glory, but still no idea who is playing here. Is it Taylor Swift, who was once rumored to play Dazzler in the film? EW shut that rumor down, but Dafne Keen also repeatedly lied about not being in the movie while on tour for The Acolyte.
Perhaps Lady Deadpool is Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds’s real-life wife Blake Lively? That seems a more likely possibility and seems to be the most popular fan theory at the moment.
Alternately, it’s been suggested that Lady Deadpool may be played by Morena Baccarin, who plays Deadpool’s girlfriend Vanessa in the films. In Deadpool & Wolverine, we know that as things open they’ve broken up, and she’s seeing someone new. Perhaps having a Deadpool from somewhere in the multiverse who is Vanessa but without the new boyfriend and none of the issues that come with him being a Merc With a Mouth… Particularly if she’s also a Merc With a Mouth… Might be an interesting emotional thread to pull on?
Whoever is playing her, we also get a shadowy glimpse of the Deadpool Corps. They’re a group of Deadpools from throughout the multiverse that includes Lady Deadpool, and Dogpool (a dog who is Deadpool). We’ve also seen Cowboy Deadpool in previous trailers. And while this is all in shadow, there are at least 10 additional Deadpools in this trailer. The one on the right seems to be wearing a cowboy hat. And floating above them all is almost definitely Headpool, a decapitated zombie head version of Deadpool from the Marvel Zombies dimension.
As for the rest, TBD. In the meantime, feel free to place Blake Lively’s body over Lady Deadpool’s body to see if it matches. I’m not going to do that, because I’m not a creep.
Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26, 2024. You can watch the new, final trailer below.
