Today, in case you don’t know, kicks off Prime Day — aka, a two-day sale on Amazon with some steep discounts on everything from cat food to kids’ toys and electronics. But per the purview of this site, Prime Day — which is actually two days, today and tomorrow (July 17) — also has some great discounts on comics and graphic novels.
To semi-defeat the purpose of this piece, because we don’t do clickbait here on the ol’ Comic Book Club website, I will note that you can easily browse the Prime Day Comics & Graphic Novels deals category yourself, here.
However, since all of these categories are extremely broad, and there’s a lot to sift through, I’m going to highlight six deals you don’t want to miss. Unless you own these items, in which case: never mind.
1. The Complete Calvin & Hobbes

I actually do own this, and it’s a treasured part of my collection. It’s also a massive brick that will take up a huge chunk of your bookcase. But as one of, if not the best comic strip of all time, it’s worth adding yet another Calvin & Hobbes collection to your, er, collection.

2. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse: Inspiring Conversations on Hope, Love and Personal Growth

This has been adapted into a short film for Apple, and now you can read the original, lovely story for cheap.
Price: $7.56 (67% off)

3. Maus I & II Paperback Box Set

Art Spiegelman’s ground-breaking, best-selling graphic novel about the Holocaust, told with mice and cats, is a must-have for any comic book reader. Or reader, really. I used to read this once a year, and frankly seeing this on the roster is making me want to crack the books one more time.
Price: $18.94 (44% off)

4. Shuna’s Journey

If you love Hayao Miyazaki’s classic films like Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro, then you owe it to yourself to get his graphic novel, as well. It has the same wistful and whimsical spirit.
Price: $15.63 (44% off)

5. Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Promise

Several of Dark Horse’s Avatar: The Last Airbender books are on sale, but I recommend starting with this one by Gene Luen Yang and Giruhiru, which picks up pretty much right where the TV show left off.
Price: $16.66 (58% off)

6. X-Men (Penguin Classics Marvel Collection)

If you haven’t checked them out, the Penguin Classics Marvel Collections are exceedingly cool. They reprint the original issues in full color, with nice bindings. And — for example — this X-Men one has a new foreword by Rainbow Rowell.
Price: $26.58 (47% off)
