Oni Press Unveils ‘Cruel Universe’ Spa-Fon Variant, First Looks At Two Stories

Are you ready for the universe to get even crueler than ever before? Well, get ready, as Oni Press has unveiled a brand new look at their upcoming EC Comics Cruel Universe anthology.

While the actual issue won’t arrive until August 7, the big new announcement here is Tom Fowler’s limited-edition, 1:100 retailer incentive variant cover featuring an alien shouting “Spa-Fon” a classic exclamation from the equally classic original EC Comics.

And that’s cool and all, but you know what’s cooler than one cover? A billion covers. Unfortunately, we only have three covers to show you, not a billion. The others come from Greg Smallwood and J.H. Williams III.

As for the interior of the book, it’ll feature an array of all-star writers and artists presenting their best weird sci-fi tales. How weird? Find out for yourself, and thrill in terror as Ben H. Winters and Artyom Topilin present “Priceless;” and Matt Kindt and Kano present “The Champion.”
