Caitlin Yarsky is in a living hell, but it’s a good one: shes launching her own creator-owned series, Living Hell, though Dark Horse Comics.

Yarsky first vaguely teased the upcoming series to Comic Book Club when we caught up with her last year at Baltimore Comic-Con, and now it’s a reality… Previously known for titles like Black Hammer Reborn and Wonder Woman, the new title is pitched as Blade Runner 2049 meets Buffy, and focuses on a demon escaping prison… In hell!

“Almost every mythology around the world has its own version of an underworld—a land of the dead, the embodiment of despair,” Yarsky explained via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “LIVING HELL explores the lengths we’ll go to transcend generational trauma and the prisons of our past. It’s a story about family, the fantasy of a clean slate, and of course, cool monsters.”

The comic focuses on a loving father and husband named Jerome Jameel, a demon, who is living on Earth as a bartender. But when he kills a bounty hunter from hell, he inherits the job — and now has to hunt down his own kind. Says the release, “Jerome soon faces a range of ancient deities and monsters, from the human-eating ghosts known as Jikininki to psychopomps like Baron Samedi. But with every act of betrayal, Jerome loses a little more of his hard-earned humanity.”

Living Hell will hit stores on November 6, 2024, with a cover price of $4.99. Check out the full cover below:
