Time to put more blood in that printing press… Marvel‘s Blood Hunt Red Band Editions are all getting a second printing. Timed for one month after the event ends on July 31, the new printings will come in a “blood-soaked” version that is made with the real blood of Marvel staffers! Just kidding, it’s red ink.
“The Red Band pages are really interesting to me,” said artist Pepe Larraz via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “They allow me to convey the dark, violent, blood tone of this particular story and flex new muscles that I don’t usually get to use in a super hero comic. And I’m not going to lie, they’re so fun!”
Written by Jed MacKay, with art by Larraz, the currently running Blood Hunt event has found the heroes of the Marvel Universe contending with a vampire invasion. Led by Blade, the event has spilled over like so much blood into other titles, spinoffs, and more.
In case you’re not familiar, the Red Band issues contain alternate pages and art that lean more bloody and violent. Sometimes that takes the form of a lot more severed heads. Sometimes a character gets sliced in half instead of impaled. In the latter case, everybody argues about it on the internet for a full week or two. The adults-only versions come polybagged, with a Parental Advisory warning. They are only sold in comic book shops, and not digitally.
The second printings of Blood Hunt #1-#5 will hit shops on August 28 but are available for preorder at your local retailer now. Check out the covers to the issues, below:
