Time was, Marvel‘s Captain America: Brave New World was supposed to come out two months ago on May 3, 2024. Not sure if you’re aware, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the movie got delayed through both strikes and reshoots and will now hit on February 14, 2025. And to celebrate an early Valentine’s Day, star Anthony Mackie posted a new pic of him in the Captain America suit.
Now before you start to think Mackie is like any big box store — putting the candy for the next holiday months down the road on shelves before the previous holiday is even over — this new still was actually posted for July 4, 2024. Because, you know: America and whatnot. And in fact, at one point the movie was pushed to July 26, 2024. Meaning it could have been over Memorial Day… Or it could have been in the spot that is now occupied by Deadpool & Wolverine. Instead, we’re going to celebrate a, er, brave new world for our new Captain America on the most romantic day of the year.
As for the new costume look it’s… Pretty much the same as the previous looks we got through McDonald’s. The fast food chain revealed the first look at Red Hulk (Harrison Ford) and the new Falcon (Danny Ramirez). That was ostensibly because of the release date changes, which found the chain releasing their Happy Meals on time, while the movie was pushed months down the road. We also got a good look at Anthony Mackie in the new suit from Empire Magazine, which serves terrible burgers but does a good job with entertainment scoops.
Is this insanely early promo for Brave New World an issue? Not really, unless you write about entertainment news or are a perpetually online Marvel fan. Perhaps Mackie posting pics like this is keeping people hyped. And chances are we’ll get an actual good look at the movie at San Diego Comic-Con, which is coming up at the end of this month. As is, though, we’ll have to make do with different angles on Mackie’s suit, and Happy Meals.
