First off, you guys are so awesome. In so many ways. You make me so happy to be a fangirl-and should really pat yourselves on the back for being incredibly nerdy yet really accessible to chicks who dig comics. That’s no small feat in a fandom that can often feel as oppressive as Rob Liefeld’s art.

I’ve been a fan and visitor to your recordings since you were in that huge theatre and we had to pay a cover charge. I wanted to let you know about a really awesome short play reading that is seriously comic nerdy: an imagined conversation between Wonder Woman and Frederic Wertham, author of “Seduction of the Innocent.” I’d love for any of you to attend! It’s 3/28 at 8pm, downstairs at Mr. Dennehy’s on 63 Carmine Street. It’s free! There’s a private bar next to the staging area! Booze, WW and bondage, what more could you want? Hope to see you (or ANY CBCL fans-all 21 and over welcome!) there.

I am trying to find the comic you plugged on the Comic Book Club podcast called Captain Jones. I went to the Squarespace site but I can’t “contact” Pete Lepage there due to “Unable to send form. No storage service is configured. Configure one using the ‘Storage’ tab from the configuration area for this block.” Anyway, Is it currently available or is it soon to be released? Describing it as Hitchhiker meets Lebowski has me instantly wanting to see this. Thanks.

    Great website!
I wanted to share my project which is an animated moving panel book entitled The Francis Ellis Mysteries. This project is a hybrid of disciplines: photography, acting, film-making, voice work, and animation, in the form of a graphic novel. The story is edited in panels, the characters are animated, and accompanied by dialogue and sound effects. The style is dark and cinematic, very film noir, detective story.

The story is based on a cataclysmic explosion at Port Chicago in 1944 that becomes the obsession of survivor Francis Vincent Ellis when he is lured from seclusion in 1949 and thrust into a sprawling hybrid world of Meta-Humans, Physicists, Con-Men, G-Men, Mobsters, Spies, Clip Joints, Debutantes, Murderers, Blue Bloods, Be-Bop and Thieves, by a cuckold Giant, flaunting unimaginable wealth and evidence of the sinister origin of the Atomic Age.

The first episode is out and the campaign is up.
Here is our link for those interested and the sample episode is temporarily on the page as well. Please check it out, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hello to the team at Comic Book Club,

My name is Alanah, and I’m an actor and executive producer of the new web series, Three Days of Glory. The show follows the lives of cosplayers as they top each other, and themselves, with each new costume and convention. The show will feature cosplayers as some of the most beloved comic book and fantasy heroes- Iron Man, Star Lord, the X Men, and more.

But most importantly, this is a show about the people behind the masks, the comic lovers, the anime freaks, and the fantasy fanatics.

Our Indiegogo campaign has recently launched, where you can find the trailer, cast interviews, and more.

We’d love if we could feature the series on one of your podcasts. We’re in the process of building a fan base, and thought your audience would be perfect to bring in to the Three Days of Glory world. If you have any questions or concern, please feel free to contact me, or I can connect you to George and Pat, our show’s creators and producers. Thank you for your time and consideration, and have a great day.

    Sincerely,
    Alanah Rafferty

Hi! I want to share with you my graphic novel called “Our Friend Satan”. The story follows Satan, who is depressed and suffering from a midlife crisis. He would like to be evil, like in the old days, but he cannot reach the expectations of the modern people anymore. When even Satanists turn their backs on him, he decides to deal with the matter once and for all. You can check the first 17 pages of the actual graphic novel here: http://ourfriendsatan.com/comics , its a very quick and enjoyable read. There’s also much more information on our Kickstarter: http://kck.st/1JMkJ2z , and the campaign is going great – we already financed the mail goal, and now we’re trying to gather budget for turning this comic book into a trilogy.

The graphic novel gets very good reviews, and people love it – check out this Reddit thread, where there’s over 2000 upvotes, and 100 comments praising our work: https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/3gapgi/our_friend_satan_graphic_novel_oc_xpost_from/ .

At the moment we’re trying to make international audience aware of the project. It would mean A LOT to us, if you could help us by featuring our comic book in your podcast.

    Thanks!

Hello this is Michael Valentine, Director of COMIX: Beyond The Comic Book Pages, a new fun indie award winning feature length documentary about the world of comic books, and the phenomenon told through the thoughts and images of creators, artists and writers like Stan Lee, Frank Miller, Neal Adams, Mark Waid, Marc Silvestri, and many more. Please check out the trailer:at http://www.comixthemovie.com

I am doing theater screenings across the country that want to host screenings of the film and thought Comic Book Club Live would be a perfect fit to host a screening. We partnered with Tugg to bring COMIX to the BIG screen in just about any town in the nation. We already have started to partner with comic book stores in Tempe, Orlando, San Antonio. Las Vegas, and we had a successful screening last week in Muncie Indiana where Mark Waid was there and did a Q&A afterwards. as well as some other cities. It is risk free for the host and cost only the price for a ticket. We could do an awesome event together and have giveaways, contests, special guests, Cosplay, and make it a unique event.

    Here’s how Tugg works:

The host picks the theater, date, and time that works best for them.

After theater approval, you get your own Event Page where you can begin reserving tickets.

Share the event with your network and confirm your screening by selling enough tickets before the ticket deadline. (We also help you spread the word through community outreach and social media).

It cost the host nothing but the price of a ticket!!

    Check out! https://www.tugg.com/titles/comix

This event would be great opportunity to cross promote your store and could be a SUPER fun event!

Let me know if you are interested in talking about the possibilities.
    Thanks,

    Dear Sirs,
our original Graphic Novel titled Iktomi will be released this coming May by Source Point Press. We are reaching out to Podcasts around the Country trying to obtain interviews for our creative team to increase the chances of spreading the word to a desired audience about this exiting and unique graphic novel.

Longline: In this Dark Fantasy/Western Saga, two separated DIMENSIONS vie for absolute domination of the Human Race. In one, the UPPER WORLD, the Lakota Indians and their allies fight for survival against irreducible oppressors during post-Civil War America: Blue Coats, Road-Agents and…dreadful Creatures from Native American Mythology! The other is a dangerous and frightful reign known as XIBALBA, the “place where the Sun refuses to shine”, ruled by an evil High-Priest (HURACAN) and other dark forces. An Indian Trickster Spirit (IKTOMI) is the link between the Two Dimensions. As a memorable clash is about to erupt, the fate of all Humanity now lies in the hands of a white-man-turned-Lakota-Shaman (JACK FREEMAN/TWO MOON), a Lakota Holy Man (MEDICINE EAGLE) and their…”doubles” in Xibalba!

I just discovered your podcast this week. Since then I’ve just about given up my podcast listening schedule to just listen to you guys wax poetic (or otherwise) about comics and all the various media they have spread to. That might not sound like much but since I work from home all day, that means I just sit at the computer and listen to past runs of your show.

The discussion of the new Superman movie has been particularly interesting to me because I have always wanted them to get that property right, but it seems they never will. I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts on the movie and how it stacked with the DC arc, Kingdom Come? Maybe you’ve already done this and I’ve just not gotten to it yet, and you can direct me to the correct episode I’ve always loved that particular run. I feel it takes the issues that we see bundled up in the current movie (i.e. the apparent desire out there for a gritty Superman in an increasingly nasty world; Superman’s desire to just do the right thing in spite of all that; Batman’s paranoia, etc.) and pushes them hard down a path that makes sense and is heartbreaking in it’s conclusions. It shows us that we need Superman to be that paragon of virtue that despite having the powers of a god, the easy way is not necessarily the right way. It smacks us in the face and says, you want to see what the world is like with gritty super heroes? You want to see a jaded Superman? Well here you go. It’s not pretty. But at the same time the story makes sense. It’s not just a hodgepodge of noise and light and cameos. It’s a story. And maybe that’s the biggest problem with the DC franchise approach. Instead of building the elements of this clash into their solo titles like Marvel did, sowing the seeds throughout Iron Man and captain America and the Avengers movies, they did it completely backwards. Anyway.

I’ve always thought the Kingdom Come story was very powerful and all this talk about the new movie brought it back to my mind and I wondered if you guys had any thoughts. I imagine you’re tired of talking about by now, but I would love to hear what you all had to say.

    Thanks from a new fan,

    Josh
