‘Krypton’: Seg Gets Saved By A Surprising Source In This “Word Of Rao” Scene

Krypton: Colin Salmon as Black Zero, Killian Coyle as Tak, Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El

Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) has a unique ability to get in serious trouble on SYFY’s Krypton. And on last week’s episode “The Word of Rao,” he got captured, interrogated and tortured by a new character, played by Colin Salmon. We’ve already speculated a bit about who Salmon is playing, but the scene below offers plenty of new clues.

To get you up to speed: Seg is Superman’s grandfather. Centuries before Kal-El was saving Earth, the Collector of Worlds known as Brainiac was trying to destroy Superman’s home planet of Krypton. Seg finds out about this thanks to a time traveler named Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos), and slowly realizes its up to him to stop the seemingly unstoppable Brainiac.

Complicating matters, Brainiac has sent a probe to the city of Kandor which infected a friend of Seg’s named Rhom (Alexis Raben). Seg stopped Rhom, only to be captured by Colin Salmon’s character, who knows about Brainiac and will stop at nothing to save Krypton.

Who is Colin Salmon playing?

So, what clues do we learn here about what’s going on with Salmon, because this scene is as much about Seg as it is him figuring out who Salmon really is.

– He’s not part of Black Zero, the revolutionary force trying to free Krypton from the rule of the god Rao.

– Salmon is not exactly Sagatari, the military guild that enacts Rao’s will.

– He knows about Brainiac, and he wants to stop the Collector no matter the cost.

– The Commander won’t let anyone harm Seg.

– He snapped his own man’s neck because he hurt Seg, which seems like an extreme reaction tbh.

We’ve got a guess based on this info, and expect we’ll find out a lot more about him when the next episode, “The House of Zod” hits this Wednesday (April 18). Check out the clip below, and see if you can figure it out for yourself:

Here’s the official description of the series from SYFY:

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy). Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
